Dharma Talk - Back to Basics: The Noble Eightfold Path, Part 2

with John Hanagan

February 25th

Date details +
Shortly after his awakening, the Buddha traveled to the Deer Park near Benares to deliver his First Sermon. In it he laid out the fundamentals of his teachings: the Four Noble Truths, the Eightfold Path, and the vision of the Middle Way (not too tight, not too loose). In two Dharma Talks, our speaker will explore these beginning teachings with the spirit of Beginner's Mind.

In part one, we will consider the Noble Eightfold Path as a spiral rather than a linear progression; a spiral in which our meditation practice continually deepens the views and aspirations that guide our lives.

In part two, we will contemplate how formal meditation practice enriches Meditation in Action - the mindfulness and awareness of Speech, Behavior, Livelihood, and Effort. Together we will search joyfully for the deepest wisdom in the Buddha's most simple teachings.
