Participants study the Vidyadhara's terma text, The Letter of the Black Ashe, which gives the instruction for "raising windhorse." The practice of windhorse opens the heart and refreshes one's confidence. It is a way to bring about skillful and heartfelt social engagement, enabling the warrior to go forward in the midst of whatever challenges occur.

About the Teachers

Shastri Myra Woodruff is a Shastri, a senior teacher in the Shambhala tradition. She has lived and worked as the Director of Karmê Chöling Shambhala Meditation Center in Barnet, Vermont for the last 4 years. Prior to that, she lived in Burlington for over 20 years working as a psychotherapist.

Shastri Sharon Keegan completed the first traditional Tibetan Buddhist three-year retreat at Gampo Abbey in 1996, and, upon completion, was asked to serve as the first lay administrative director of Gampo Abbey for the following three years. Subsequently Sharon moved to Halifax and helped found the Hospice Society of Greater Halifax. In 2001, she moved to Vermont, teaches within the Burlington sangha and has served as the administrator of a hospice residence for the past 15 years.
