Joy and Confidence: Here and Now
with Charlotte Brodie
Joy comes from the confidence of not only knowing that you have a best foot, but that you can always put that foot forward in meeting the ups and downs of life. Buddhists call that best foot “awakened heart” or “bodhicitta.” That heart is warm, open, and outgoing. It exists in all of us innately, but may be in an embryonic form. Learning to recognize it, explore it, and cultivate its beneficial qualities gives us the confidence and energy to lead our lives with bravery, strength, inspiration, joy, and good humor, even in the face of difficulties. In all of that, we can rejoice!
