Fearlessness in a Time of Terrorism

“True fearlessness is not the reduction of fear, but going beyond fear”
(Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, in Shambhala: Sacred Path of the Warrior).

Terrorist attacks are extremely frightening – that is the point of terrorism.  Something would be profoundly wrong with us if we didn’t experience fear and horror in the face of the attacks like the ones in Paris, Nice, Brussels, San Bernardino, Orlando – or in Kenya, Yemen, Pakistan, Iraq, and – the list goes on.  Even if we don’t get easily frightened, these kinds of events test our worldview, our view of who we are as human beings.  And yet, fear is rarely a good source of advice for how to move forward in life.

In this talk and discussion, we will examine the Shambhala teachings on fearlessness and how these might apply to the challenges of living in a time of terrorism. Come join us for this Dharma Talk on Sunday, November 13th: from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM.
